Temporary chats
Sometimes you want a conversation that leaves nothing behind. A temporary chat works exactly like a normal one while it is open, but stays out of everything persistent.
Starting one
Toggle Temporary in the chat header before you send the first message. The conversation is visibly marked as temporary.
What's different
- It does not appear in your sidebar history and is not searchable.
- It does not read or write memory: the model gets no personalization, and nothing said is remembered afterwards.
- It is deleted automatically after a short retention window.
What's the same
The model, tools, and quality are identical, and usage is billed normally: tokens are tokens. Temporary affects storage, not processing. Your inputs are never used for training either way.
When to use it
One-off questions that would clutter your history, sensitive topics you don't want stored, or quick tests where you experiment with prompts without leaving a trail. For everything you might want to find again next week, use a normal chat: searchable history is the better default.
